July 4, 2024 – There and Back Again

It all started so well with a fantastic set from Squonk – Their interactive and visual show is always entertaining and fun. (The last time we saw them was in the very same spot – over 15 years ago!)

A crowd began to gather at the point and everyone was having a great time. Laura and I both noted that it was one of the most diverse and fun crowds we had seen in a long time.

This is America at its’ finest!

We had checked the forecast and knew that a very small cell of rain might hit right around fireworks, but it appeared very small on the map…

Plus, it’s just a little water right…? It will be refreshing!

Well… a little water might have been underestimating it a bit… I’m sad that I didn’t have the phone camera out when it started – because PANDEMONIUM is the only word that fits. I’ve never before seen a crowd of thousands all start to scream and run at the same time. I am amazed no one was hurt… We’re pretty hardy folk so we just sat and watched, but we’ve never ever been outside in a storm so torrential…

It was legit impressive – Nature is magnificent!

I really doubted they would go on with the show, but the rain stopped as fast as it started and there was a huge crowd of soaked folks that would have been … very disappointed … if the show did not go on. And it did!

All in all – a super fun time that reminded me that adventure doesn’t come to you – you have to go get it!! (even if it makes you late for supper and soaks your handkerchiefs… )
